Privacy Policy

Australian Home Loan Limit & Guidance is designed around data minimisation. The current assessment operates in your browser and does not require an account or the submission of your financial assessment information to our servers.

Privacy by design

• No account is required to use the assessment.

• Your assessment information is processed within your browser.

• Assessment information is stored temporarily in your browser session so you can move between assessment steps and view your result.

• We do not send your financial assessment inputs to our servers or store them in a customer database.

• Completing the assessment does not submit a loan application to a lender.

• We do not sell or use your financial assessment inputs for advertising profiling.

1. About this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Australian Home Loan Limit & Guidance handles information when you use our website, assessment calculator and related services.

Our current approach is to collect as little personal information as reasonably necessary while still allowing the calculator to generate useful indicative home-loan guidance.

This policy should be read together with our Important Information, Methodology & Assumptions and Terms of Use pages.

2. Information entered into the assessment

The assessment may ask you to enter information such as your age, application type, income, employment type, household expenses, dependants, credit-card limits, debt repayments, student debt, property value, contribution amount, loan term and first-home-buyer information.

This information is used to calculate your indicative borrowing range, borrowing limit, estimated repayments, property position, purchase costs and potential first-home-buyer assistance.

The assessment does not require your name, email address, phone number, residential address, tax file number, bank-account number, credit-card number, employer name or lender account details.

3. How assessment information is processed

The current assessment is designed to process your financial assessment information in your browser.

We have not implemented an application-level API, server action or database pathway for transmitting or storing the financial assessment inputs used by the calculator.

The calculation of your borrowing guidance is therefore performed as part of the browser-based application experience.

4. Browser session storage

The assessment uses browser session storage so information can remain available while you move between assessment pages and view your final result.

Session storage is browser-based temporary storage. It is not a customer database maintained by us.

Starting a new assessment clears the assessment session data used by the application. Browser-session information may also be removed when the relevant browser session ends, depending on the browser and device.

5. No account required

You can currently use the assessment without creating a customer account.

We do not require you to identify yourself by name merely to calculate an indicative result.

This helps reduce the amount of personal information required to use the service.

6. No lender application or lender submission

Completing the assessment does not submit a home-loan application, pre-approval request or credit application to a bank, lender, mortgage broker, mortgage insurer or other credit provider.

We do not send the financial assessment inputs entered into the calculator to a lender as part of the current assessment process.

7. No sale or advertising use of assessment inputs

We do not sell the financial information entered into the assessment.

We do not use assessment income, debt, household-expense, credit-limit or property information to build advertising profiles about users.

If the service changes in the future in a way that materially changes these practices, this Privacy Policy will be reviewed and updated before those practices are introduced.

8. Analytics

The current application does not include an application analytics service for collecting or analysing users' financial assessment inputs.

If analytics, crash reporting or diagnostic tools are introduced in the future, we will review the information those services process and update this policy and any required disclosures before relying on them.

9. Technical information required to operate the service

Although the financial assessment itself is processed in your browser, operating a website involves ordinary internet and hosting infrastructure.

Hosting, network, security or infrastructure providers may process technical information necessary to deliver and protect the service. Depending on the provider, this may include information such as IP address, browser or device information, request timestamps, network requests, security events and diagnostic information.

This technical information is different from the income, expenses, debts and property information entered into the home-loan assessment.

10. Hosting and third-party infrastructure

We may use third-party technology providers to host, distribute, secure and maintain the website and application.

These providers may process limited technical information where reasonably necessary to provide their infrastructure services.

We will review this policy if new providers or services materially change how information is handled.

11. Cookies and similar technologies

The current assessment relies primarily on browser session storage to maintain information across assessment steps.

Hosting or security infrastructure may also use technical mechanisms required for website operation, performance or security.

We will periodically review the use of cookies, local storage, session storage and similar technologies as the service develops.

12. Overseas processing

Some hosting, network or infrastructure providers may operate systems outside Australia or process technical information in other countries.

Because the current financial assessment inputs are processed in your browser rather than submitted to our own server-side assessment database, this is separate from the treatment of your financial assessment information.

We will review relevant overseas processing arrangements as the service and its providers develop.

13. Data minimisation

The service is deliberately designed not to request information that is unnecessary for the modelling exercise.

For example, the assessment does not ask for bank login details, account numbers, card numbers, tax file numbers or identification document numbers.

You should not enter sensitive or identifying information into free-text fields or areas where the assessment does not request it.

14. Security

Data minimisation reduces the amount of personal information exposed to unnecessary storage or processing.

We also aim to use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the service.

No internet service, browser, device or hosting environment can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

15. Access and correction

Because the current assessment is designed not to create a customer account or retain a server-side financial profile about you, we generally do not hold an assessment record that can later be retrieved as a customer account record.

While completing an assessment, you can use the Review page and Edit controls to correct the information used by the calculator before generating your result.

If we hold personal information about you in another context and applicable law gives you a right to access or correct it, you may contact us to make that request.

16. Anonymity

The current assessment is designed so users can obtain indicative guidance without identifying themselves by name.

This supports our objective of collecting only the information reasonably necessary to provide the calculator functionality.

17. Children

The service is intended for people considering home-loan and property-purchase scenarios and is not designed as a service directed to children.

18. Automated calculations

The application uses software calculations to generate indicative borrowing and property-related guidance from the information entered by the user.

These calculations do not make a lender's credit decision and do not approve or decline a home-loan application.

The outputs are educational estimates based on the calculator's methodology and assumptions.

19. Mobile applications

Future iOS and Android versions of Australian Home Loan Limit & Guidance are intended to follow the same data-minimisation principles.

Before mobile applications are released, we will review any Apple or Google platform services, permissions, software development kits, analytics, crash-reporting tools and other third-party services included in those applications.

App Store and Google Play privacy disclosures will be completed based on the actual data practices of the released mobile applications.

20. Future changes to the service

If future versions introduce accounts, saved assessments, cloud storage, lender referrals, application assistance, analytics, advertising, personalised communications or other functionality that changes how information is handled, this Privacy Policy will be reviewed before those features are introduced.

21. Privacy enquiries and complaints

If you have a question, concern or complaint about privacy or the way information is handled by the service, you may contact the operator of Australian Home Loan Limit & Guidance.

A dedicated privacy contact method will be published before the formal public launch of the service.

Privacy enquiries and complaints will be reviewed within a reasonable period, taking into account the nature of the issue and applicable Australian privacy requirements.

22. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the application, infrastructure, mobile applications, service providers or legal requirements change.

The current version will be published through the service together with its latest review date.
